In the second in the series of player comparisons for the top 3 of the 2014 NBA draft, we look at Andrew Wiggins. The Canadian boy-wonder has athleticism, no questions asked. In a picture that went viral recently, it was estimated that Wiggins had a 44" vertical leap, which is nothing less than remarkable. The big questions that are still out there though are: can his ball-handling improve and can he learn to pass at an NBA level?
The answer to both questions are assuredly yes, but does he have the drive to get there? At NBAdraft.net, the player comparison for Wiggins is Rudy Gay (or Vince Carter, but I'm choosing the player who more may be familiar with). Should it scare you that the comparison for a top-3 player in one of the best drafts in recent history is merely a better-than-average wing? Possibly, but realize that the potential is there for much, much more. Should Wiggins learn to dribble to his left and pass at a higher level, he has the talent and ability to be a perennial all-star. For now, just admire Rudy Gay's leaping ability and imagine Wiggins in a Cavs uniform, soaring through the air.
