Final score: (Thanks for taking the ride everyone!)
Cavs---110, Golden State--99
4th Quarter:
12:00: Irving is out the rest of the game, it looks like. Delly comes out to start at point.
11:33: Give and go from Moz to LBJ results in a beautiful layup. Defense was skewed towards Moz, leaving opposite rim side wide open.
10:55: Delly turns the ball over and then fouls to prevent a fast break bucket. Dude, Delly is not that good. Also, I love that everyone in this room loves Delly and hates Love. It's actually amazing. Real thing, just said: "You know how I know that wasn't Love? Cause Delly plays defense." Defense here meaning: Delly fouls a player after he turns the ball over. Cleveland fans are weird.
10:11: 9-point lead. This Warriors team is scary, especially without Irving.
8:59: Another step back J from LBJ. Needs to get away from those and back to attacking.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
7:03: Irving is back. He is immediately at the line after a foul at the hoop. That guy can get to the rim at will.
6:12: Irving is back at the line. The Cavs are in the bonus with 6 minutes left in the game. Kind of nuts.
5:42: TNT shows a stat extolling the Cavs defense on Curry and Thompson. I'm sure that's a bad omen.
4:43: Love did a great job closing on Curry, preventing a 3-point attempt and forcing Curry to hoist a mid-range jumper.
3:40: Right after a crappy iso-jumper, LBJ steals the ball and gets fouled, sending him to the line. A scattering of MVP chants.
3:30: Second straight LBJ steal.
3:02: Season-high 42 points for LBJ after a gorgeous post-move.
1:47: Cavs up 9. LBJ 3. Miss. Shump grabs the board.
1:04: AIR BALL AIR BALL AIR BALL (SCREW YOU CHEF CURRY)
0:49: Cavs dominated this game.
0:39: Love drills a 3. Turns to Kerr and mouths: "Still want Thompson?"
Cleveland is obliterated the best team in the West. This game was convincing. Guys, it turns out that the Cavs are, like, good.
0:39: James Jones is in. Cleveland is admitting they won this game.
0:04: Ref calls a foul. Camera cuts to an irate LBJ saying, "The game is done. THE GAME IS DONE."
0:00 Cavs win
3rd Quarter
10:49: Cavs are not playing with a ton of hustle to open the gate.
10:29: Clean block on Love from Thompson.
10:14: Thompson with a wet 3. His first of the night. Solid defense up to this point.
9:59: Turnover. Cavs are playing sloppy.
9:38: James with a delicious step back and J. This dude is locked in tonight.
8:20: Kerr is on the court. He took his jacket off. He will not stop yelling. Dude is furious.
Commercial break: Mozgov has a mid-range game that reminds me of Z. Is this what young Z played like?
8:00: LBJ 3-pointer out of the break. Craziness.
7:55: LBJ 3 attempt from between the half-court logo and the 3-point line. Bricks it. Deserved to break it.
7:12: Dumb foul from Bogut. Warriors are getting sloppy. This feels like a playoff game.
6:45: LBJ is in the zone. He's hitting everything.
5:32: Lot of no calls. Really letting them play since Kerr took his jacket off.
4:11: Cleveland-81, Golden State-67
3:20: Love with a smart foul on Barnes to prevent the layup. This Warriors team is still scary. They're down 13 and I'm still worried about their shooters.
2:33: LBJ with 36 points. Holy shit.
1:07: Golden State has cut this to 8-point. Craziness. They are a team to be feared for a good reason.
0:41: Thompson makes a miracle shot.
0:29: LBJ with the easy dunk. 38 points.
End of 3rd: Cleveland-90, GS-78
2nd Quarter (I lost all of my 2nd quarter updates, sorry guys)
Cavs-39,Warriors-37
Just lost my whole second quarter posts. This is getting insane. My rough recap below:
Both these teams are insanely talented and deep. The Cavs jumped out to a 6-point lead after a surprisingly unselfish pass from JR Smith to Kevin Love, resulting in a 3-point shot. Then Golden State hit two consecutive 3-pointers to tie. Then the Cavs went on another 6-point run.
Meanwhile, I was engaged in an insane debate about the role of sports media. People here actually believe that the media is responsible for the state of the Browns. What. the. fuck.
1 minute mark: Love drills another three. I think he's trying to make a point about not wanting him more than Thompson. I'd want to send a fuck you. Looks like Love wants to, too.
0:34: Barnes drills a 3-pointer. Every time I see him shoot I think of Dion Waiters.
End of second quarter: Cavs 61, Warriors 56
We are about 20 minutes from tip-off. Stay tuned to this post for updates, coverage and analysis. We'll also answer any questions/respond to idiocy in the comment section.
Hope everyone is somewhere warm.
Also, we're enacting a game-long moratorium on the Drake song "0 to 100." Steph Curry is the central name drop of that song and that momentum carried him to a 3-point contest win (that I predicted and Brad got murdered for). So, no Chef Curry with the pot.
12:00---Tip-off. Quick bucket from J.R. Smith.
11:31--Harrison Barnes with a "fuck you for taking Dion"
11:15--LBJ fouled going to the hoop. Our watching group is debating the new Browns logo. And the validity of the Browns football championships. They aren't real. Super Bowls or bust, get over it.
10:35: Tied at 4. LBJ in the paint with a back-down and hook shot. Irving with a steal and a dunk.
9:52: Chef Curry for 3. Fuck. Someone here just said: "Both of the actors in the Oscars played mentally handicapped people."---What the fuck? Hawking had motor neuron disorder, right? That didn't affect his mental capacity whatsoever. Is this how normal people talk?
8:43: LBJ is abusing whoever covers him. This is the danger of small ball.
8:13: Mozgov needs to go a little stronger in the post. But he's still a solid defensive player.
7:27: LBJ doesn't dunk? Clear path, no one in front of him. Why no dunk?
6:47: TIMOFEY
6:44: FUCK THAT BLOCK WENT TO CURRY...bet he hits it...HE DOES
5:56: Mozgov fights it up and in. Solid work.
5:56: Talking about rec basketball during a pro game is now equivalent to talking about wife troubles in a sauna. Played the hell out.
Commercial break. We are packed into this tiny apartment, man. This game promises to be really, really good. Talent level looks crazy.
5:30: This Warriors team is small. The Cavaliers keep running iso-post plays for Mozgov, Love and James and Golden State just doesn't have the team-wide height to match up.
Luke Walton, right now, is performing better on a Cavs court than he ever did when he was in uniform.
4:30: Irving plays tit-for-tat 3s with Curry. This game could have some pretty amazing bravado moments between those two (and a potential blood bath heat check bout between JR Smith and Klay Thompson. Thompson wins that, if you're wondering how big a homer I am).
3:32: BULLSHIT FOUL CALL. Smith doesn't even touch him.
2:46: Injury scare. Curry bumps knees with Irving and goes down. Irving needs to make sure that this doesn't become a pissing contest between the two of them.
2:32: Shumpert comes in and immediately guards Curry. I love this match up. I want to see how this plays out.
0:34: David Lee is fucking killing us. Why is David Lee killing us? I honestly thought he retired. Or was still playing for the Knicks.
End of first quarter: David Lee presents the Golden State Warriors---33---Cleveland Cavaliers---32
Cavs---110, Golden State--99
