Brad and I met each other playing something other than basketball. We were defenders on the same pitch, learning that dribbling had other meaning beyond "the rock." We were the back defensemen on an indoor soccer team (somewhat) ironically titled the "Lava Tigers."
It didn't take us long to figure out that soccer was neither our best sport, nor the one we cared most about. We became Facebook friends, real friends, and basketball confidants. We shared the same burning love of all things on the hardwood.
Brad is the numbers guy. I imagine he sees the world like Neo at the end of The Matrix, all of reality composed of scrolling binary numbers. Basketball to him makes sense statistically. He bends my ear about pace stats (his first post on the blog) and true shooting percentages. He will handle most of Moondog's stats.
I'm a trained journalist, for whatever that's worth. I grew up and was educated in Cleveland, working for a lot of the local outlets there. I have an unhealthy obsession with basketball history, and the macro perspective. I'll bring you a lot of the words on the site.
Together Brad and I will discuss the NBA, the Cavs, and whatever else piques our collective interest. In the impending off-season, I may write a blog about rap music and science fiction. Brad may use advanced stats to break down hockey (or something, I don't know what you can do with numbers. I'm a journalist for Christ's sake).
We hope that you find something enjoyable here. We're not trying to lecture. We're trying to craft a dialogue. If you see something you'd like to discuss (or something you'd like to correct) send us an email, leave a comment, share our content, whatever.
Welcome to Moondog Landing.
